Bandiera Salad – The Perfect Recipe for Summer Dinners

One of the most popular summer salads in Puglia, Italy is insalata bandiera. It is eaten cold and is also cooked in other regions of Italy.It is done quickly and is very easy to prepare. It is economical because the cost of materials is not high. Cooking time is about 25 minutes, depending on the type of potato, it will be boiled for about 25 minutes, 30 minutes.

Italy is an inexhaustible source when it comes to gastronomy. Probably, wherever he lives in the world, he eats at least one dish based on an Italian recipe every two to three months. One evening when I was in Italy, I enjoyed a special salad at dinner with an Italian family. It is based on potatoes and is called insalata Bandiera.

To make this cold summer salad, you’ll need potatoes, tomatoes, capers, 1 red onion, 1 celery stalk, parsley, extra virgin olive oil, salt, and pepper.

Bandiera Salad – Recipe

material:

800g boiled potatoes

*Optional 200g canned tuna

250g tomato

50g capers

1 red onion

1 stick of celery

parsley

extra virgin olive oil

salt

pepper

Vinegar

Method of preparation:

When the boiled potatoes have cooled, peel them and cut them into cubes. Cut the red onion as finely as possible. The same goes for celery stalks. Tomatoes – wash and cut into cubes.

Chop the parsnips as finely as possible.
Place the cubed potatoes, drained tuna, tomatoes, onions, and celery in a glass bowl. Season with extra virgin olive oil, capers, vinegar, red onion, salt and pepper. If you don’t like the taste of parsley, you should know that Italians also replace it with fresh basil. Good appetite!
